Winter in the Summer

This post features student writing.

After our homestays we migrated to Wanaka, which we have called home for the past four days. Our first day we traveled to Queenstown for the day, where we did a tough hike and other fun activities like a luge ride at the top of the mountain. We then took the gondola down the mountain.

For the past two days we went skiing in Treble Cone as a group. Only one run was open but it was still a lot of fun. The views were AMAZING. A lot of people tried new activities. I (Will) tried snowboarding for the first time and had an interesting time. Myles skied for the first time.

During our time in Wanaka we have enjoyed cooking dinner for each other each night at the lodge. We were given the inconvenience of having to do the dishes, but it wasn’t as bad as we expected because we listened to music and made the best of the time.

After eating, we played Mafia on the first day. Most fun game of Mafia ever. The game lasted for a long time, but Zack was a good narrator, but Handsome Jack (Kobre) was better in the second round. Just to clarify, we have two Jacks on the program. One Jack is slightly taller than the other, so the tallER Jack is referred to as tall Jack, even though it would make more sense to call him taller Jack. The other Jack is called handsome Jack because his homestay dad felt bad for him and called him “handsome Jack” instead of “tiny Jack.” Anyway, we all had a great time playing games or watching movies every night.

Handsome Jack and Will over and out.
